Summary
This scoping visit will specifically enable UK/PNG collaborators to:
• identify priority research, conservation, and financial needs;
• define specific collaborator roles based on shared and unique expertise;
• meet additional potential collaborators (e.g. UPNG/National Museum of PNG/Wildlife Conservation Society-PNG/Research and Conservation Foundation of PNG [RCF]) to establish project roles and evaluate infrastructural requirements;
• meet and consult with PNG governmental representatives (e.g. DEC), National Research Institute, local communities and other stakeholders;
• identify training strategies and 2+ aspiring conservationists to receive EDGE Fellowships (ongoing training/funding) for conservation research;
• identify field sites and appropriate survey methods;
• develop Memorandum of Understanding;
