Summary
The scoping visits aim to achieve the following objectives:
(i) Opportunities for future collaboration on elephant population census work identified – specifically helping China and Vietnam meet their obligations to CITES MIKE.
(ii) Identify needs of partner countries on HEC – further training in HEC mitigation, staff exchanges and field site visits etc
(iii) Discuss areas supporting trans-boundary elephant populations and identify needs to improve law enforcement and monitoring
