Summary
The objectives of the scoping trip are to: 1) Raise awareness of the proposed project with participants, build understanding of roles, responsibilities and expected impacts, and respond to questions/concerns. 2) Understand who the beneficiaries are, including mobile communities and wildlife populations likely to migrate into the area as a result of increased water availability. 3) Conduct needs analysis, prioritisation and planning with conservancy management, members and NRT to ensure new water sources are located, prioritised and designed to: minimise human-human and human-wildlife conflict; guarantee improved water availability and quality; and maximise the benefits and opportunities created by the proposed interventions. 4) Assess the technical feasibility of sand dams and other water solutions at a range of sites in the target region, and to provide designs for the first set of dams.
