Summary
This project addresses the urgent need for forest conservation while safeguarding the rights of indigenous people in the Bolivian Amazon, where ecosystems are threatened by deforestation, agricultural expansion, and climate change. Climate finance mechanisms, such as carbon markets, offer potential opportunities to reduce deforestation; however, indigenous communities remain vulnerable without appropriate protection. By cocreating social and environmental safeguards with indigenous communities, this project ensures equitable participation in these markets while promoting sustainable livelihoods, enhances biodiversity conservation, and alleviates poverty.
