Summary
African forests are biodiverse habitats and diminishing. They are also full of honey bees, which if sustainably managed deliver income and create economic incentive for forest maintenance. The relationship between beekeeping and conservation is recognised, but too many projects take beekeeping out of the forest, break this link, over-rely on beehive handouts and fail to meet expectations. We will create high-quality videos, shared on YouTube, to build the capacity and capability of conservation professionals to deliver successful Nature-based Beekeeping projects.
Darwin Initiative Round 32 is now open for applications! A new round of funding to support ambitious projects delivering impact for biodiversity and communities.
From scaling successful approaches to strengthening locally led conservation, explore key lessons shared by projects working on the front line of biodiversity action.
