To use simple sampling and chromosomal taxonomy techniques to produce an inventory and key for lotic invertebrates in the Dominican Republic and to use the information on invertebrate distributions to monitor the quality of Dominican streams and rivers.

Project Outputs
Train local scientist and research technician. Submit 3 papers to peer-reviewed journal. Provide 2 years of training to a research technician in sampling, identifying, and determining species differences and construction of a predictive model. Establish a reference collection. Publish a key to river invertebrates. Produce and distribute a video describing techniques. Produce catchment management plans for 16 catchments. Hold training workshop for up to 25 local scientists.
