Summary
Coffee for nature: Restoring Nicaraguan biodiversity through coffee agroforestry Nicaraguan biodiversity and rural livelihoods are threatened by climate change, poverty, and landscape fragmentation. Based on previous research, on-the-ground pilots, and aligned with (inter)national policy, our project will: Use big-data modeling methodology, reproducible throughout Latin America, to provide spatially explicit and time-sensitive guidance on biodiversity status. Open opportunities for smallholder farmers to access, establish, and maintain coffee agroforestry systems through a self-sustaining credit scheme and capacity building. Harness financial resources to promote development and conservation.
