This project will demonstrate the importance of locally-led marine management as a tool for reducing threats to coral reefs whilst strengthening vulnerable fisheries livelihoods in Pinang, Siumat & Simanaha (‘PiSiSi’) Marine Protected Area. The project will implement a scalable model of inclusive co-management in which fishing community decision-making, traditional governance and leadership support the delivery of protected area objectives. Project activities will focus on strengthening co-management, improving livelihoods, monitoring coral reef systems and creating networks to deliver the outcome and influence policy.
