Purpose: DESCRIPTION: This project will support government, NGOs and business to integrate local issues of cultural heritage, equity and poverty alleviation into biodiversity offsets for national economic development. From research on the Bujugali Hydropower/Kalagala Offset, it will produce, and support implementation of, policy guidance for Uganda, and generate lessons internationally. PURPOSE: Government, developers and NGOs work collaboratively on ‘no net loss’ biodiversity offsets that genuinely reflect local people’s needs and values, support poverty alleviation in the long-term and are implemented equitably.
