DESCRIPTION: To reduce and ultimately end deforestation in the Bismarck Mountains of PNG, strengthen local livelihoods, and conserve biological and cultural diversity, this project will improve agricultural practices, implement sustainable forestry and silviculture, reduce hunting pressure on threatened species, and retain and pass on traditional ecological knowledge to the next generation.
OUTCOME: Reduced rates of deforestation in the Bismarck Range through improved agricultural and forestry practices that diversify and strengthen livelihoods and conserve PNG’s cultural and biological diversity
