Purpose: To identify the essential lake ecosystem properties that sustain key populations of water bird species and thereby ensure LBNR’s management plan completion.∑To explain the mass movements of P. minor between Lake Bogoria and neighbouring lakes, and causes of unpredictable mortality of P.minor. To advise on measures to minimise the risk to the species.
Outputs: Coherent explanation of effects of changes in external factors on the abundance of P. minor, cape teal and black-necked grebe populations at LBNR formulated, in the context of alkaline lakes’ limnology.∑Causes of movements of P. minor between lakes and mass-mortality understood.∑Species health monitoring leg banding and tracking programmes established
