To create a permanent capacity to ensure the survival of African elephants and their habitats in Tanzania. To train Tanzania park ecologists and rangers in the continuous monitoring and assessment of the wild animal species and habitats under their protection. To attain a quantitative understanding of the Mikumi elephant population
A permanent program within the Mikumi-Tanzania Park systems monitoring the elephant and other large mammal populations using the regular anti-poaching posts and patrols of rangers.
A permanent program of trained analysis and assessment of this information by the Parks Ecology department.
