The Darwin Initiative is a UK government grants scheme that helps to protect biodiversity and the natural environment through locally based projects worldwide.
We are pleased to launch our latest edition of the newsletter on the International Day for Biological Diversity, which this year is themed on “Celebrating 25 Years of Action for Biodiversity” to mark the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
The Darwin Initiative itself was announced just over 25 years ago, with the first projects beginning shortly afterwards. From the very beginning the CBD has been a core convention that projects work towards, and today this focus remains as important as ever. In this edition we hear from recent and ongoing projects about how the fund continues to contribute to meeting the goals of the CBD all these years later.
