Purpose: To help stem the decline in biological research in FSU caused by the disintegration of co-ordinated work programmes and information.
Outputs: a published Directory containing almost 10,000 records; 2 main meetings and several workshops; 21 computer databases of about 160,000 biological records; 4 project coordinators trained on how to receive, edit and amalgamate data; 6 newsletters; 38 scientific papers. .
