Purpose: DESCRIPTION: This project will support fishing communities and government authorities to establish a co-management plan for the Thandwe District coastline in Rakhine State, Myanmar. The plan will improve governance and sustainability of the inshore purse-seine fishery and include practices that recover stocks, mitigate bycatch and increase income stability for fishing communities. OUTCOME: Co-management of the inshore purse-seine fishery in Rakhine State (Thandwe District) will enhance resource governance, increase fishery sustainability, improve livelihoods and lower bycatch.
