Purpose: DESCRIPTION: This project will reduce reliance on bushmeat in target mining communities around DRC’s Kahuzi-Biega National Park (KBNP) by 1) introducing improved livestock husbandry practices; 2) helping poor and hunting households building financial capacity to benefit from microcredit opportunities; and 3) increasing knowledge and enforcement of bushmeat hunting laws. PURPOSE: Reducing hunting pressure on KBNP’s wildlife, while improving the wellbeing of 300 vulnerable households, through increasing the availability of domestic meat and replacing demand for bushmeat in mining villages.
