Developing a National Conservation Action Plan for the Mammals of Tanzania

To develop a national monitoring system of large mammals that addresses current geographic and taxonomic data gaps, in order to produce a detailed distributional atlas and conservation action plan for large mammals in Tanzania.
Sub-unit of TAWIRI developed to monitor large mammals in data deficient areas using standardised methods.
Centralised database of mammal distribution and status that integrates historical records, and in formation from CIMU, TCC and proposed project.
Conservation Action Plan for Tanzania’s mammals developed to identify conservation priorities for each species and establish areas of data deficiency.
